Sowing & Reaping - Are you tithing?

Throughout the Word of God, I often find Bible verses pertaining to nature. You know… things like, 'sowing, reaping, harvests, fruits, seeds and soil' (to name a few). I understand that the Bible must be interpreted within it's context. There's different covenants, law and dispensations. Although, the principle of reaping & sowing is often repeated (in many ways). As I studied the Word, I realized that God had answered my prayer and given me wisdom and knowledge concerning all of this! :)

As you may know about my book 'Bible Journey,' I have been set free by the truth of God's Word and I'm no longer in religious bondage. But I can remember how frustrated I was when it came to this thing. I just didn't understand it! I didn't understand why the Pastor got paid and why my grandmother would hand me $1 each Sunday to place into the offering basket. My grandparents would say things like, "we're blessed so we must give to God." Our church never taught the Word so I was always lost when I wasn't able to receive detailed answers. I later left that church and formed a personal relationship with God. What He taught me through His Word was life-changing. Up until then, I had never heard of a pastor who taught directly from the Bible. It's crazy right? But, I know I'm not the only one whose been in a lukewarm church.

As a result of my new found relationship with the Bible (Jesus), I started to believe that there was no real church or ministry in this world that taught the truth. But God began to show me. A prophet named Elijah, too felt like He was the only one serving the Lord until God told him that it was many others. There may be many fakes but theres real Christian people alive today - even if it's a selected few (compared to the billion of lost souls)...

I prayed for God to direct me to a Bible-based church and He not only showed me one, but several others! These churches and ministries have helped me grow a lot in my faith through love and sound teaching. They fed my spirit. So in return I felt a tug on my heart that said it was time to 'SOW!' Ministry costs money so that's why pastors get paid. They dedicate their lives to serving people. Whatever you do for the Lord (for His glory) that requires support is going to cost. Realize that money is not evil. That's twisted scripture.

The Bible says: "the love of money is a root of all sorts of evil, and some by longing for it have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs" (1 Timothy 6:10).

So what does this mean? God gives us the power to get it (Deut. 8:18) and wants us to be responsible and use our money for His purposes.

We're blessed to be a blessing to others!

Whatever you reap, you will sow!

When you bless others, you'll become blessed!

Sow seeds in good soil and expect to reap a harvest!

When you give to the people of God - you give to God!

Sowing honors God and everything we have belongs to Him!

Your seed is your opportunity. Tithing is an Old Testament law that we don't have to do today. But what I learned from the OT is that those laws were morally perfect. The laws that blessed God can still work in our favor today. There's no longer condemnation to those who are saved and all that matters is making Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. However, there's so much more in this life that we can receive from God without having to wait to get to Heaven. The Bible is our guide to living an abundantly prosperous life with God's help. (see John 10:10)

The Bible says: "Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this," says the LORD Almighty, "and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it" Malachi 3:10.

God has given us free will to make our own choices. Everything is permissible in this life but not everything is beneficial (1 Corinthians 10:23). You can do what you want but there will always be consequences. God is calling for us to choose life. He's not going to push Himself on us or do things that He's already done. It's your chose to live by His Word or to live according to your own wisdom. However, it's more meaningful to be led by God because He knows best (Proverbs 3).

God is all-powerful. You can pray and beg God all day for such and such. But your prayers won't get answered if they don't line up with His Word. The Spirit will never contradict the Word. This is why I urge Christians to be Word-led through a Bible Journey. The world will say, "Why give away my money and have less?" But the Word says, "Give and more will be given to you!"

The Bible says: "Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you" Luke 6:38.

Why? Because spiritual principles don't make sense to the natural mind. It's the wisdom of God. Trusting God with our finances is the baby step of faith. It's the LEAST that we could ever do for God.

The Bible says: "There is one who scatters, and yet increases all the more, And there is one who withholds what is justly due, and yet it results only in want. The generous man will be prosperous, And he who waters will himself be watered" Proverbs 11:24-25.

The Bible says: "Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much" Luke 16:10.

God is saying: I can test a man's faith by the way he handles money. If he can't be trusted with a $1 then how can I trust him with the true riches of life (spiritual treasures)? God doesn't need our money. He's our Heavenly God and money is a worldly currency. God simply desires faith because man can't be trusted. Since money can easily and cunningly take His place in our lives, God says to honor Him with 10% to test our hearts and our faith.

When you sow into good soil (a Bible teaching and demonstrating ministry) expect to produce a harvest. The Word says a farmer expects a harvest and doesn't spend his time in bad soil because it'll produce bad crops. (Hence, you'll reap whatever you sow whether good or bad)!!

Tithing will give you a financial breakthrough. Once I studied all of the scriptures on sowing, God opened up my heart to began a new season of putting my knowledge to action. Remind you that I'm a homemaker/entrepreneur without a steady income. Most times, I was only able to give a few dollars and my heart became saddened about that because I wanted to give more but didn't have the financial resources. I prayed and prayed for help.

The Bible says: "The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver" 2 Corinthians 9:6-7.

God is saying: If you cheat him like Abel did in (Genesis 4) then God will return to you what He sees fit. Sure, there's miracles and favors but blessings stay planted. We should be led by the Holy Spirit as to where to give and the amount. If you feel bad about it then don't do it. If you're willing then do it. And whatever you truthfully have to give, do so and be happy that you're able!

There was a poor woman in the Bible [Mark 12:41-44; Luke 21-1-4] who only gave two widow's mites (equal or less than 2 pennies). Jesus said that this woman gave more than all of the wealthy folks because she gave all she had and was thankful though she had very little. This inspired me because I knew that I had more than her financially though I don't have a job. I now consider myself rich because I'm filled with every spiritual blessing and I don't lack any good thing! I've made the Lord Jesus Christ my person savior and I'm Holy Spirit filled! I have an abundantly blessed life because the Father has set me free and revealed my true identity! I'm a child of God who has a Heavenly Father who continually supplies my every need! ALL IS WELL WITH ME!!

The Bible says: "One who is gracious to a poor man lends to the Lord, And He will repay him for his good deed" Proverbs 19:17.

Ever since I started to tithe a couple of years ago, I've never seen a broke day! I used to have $0.79-$7 in my bank account on average. I couldn't afford to pay attention! BUT GOD!!

He led me to 'Hope Ministries Uganda: USA' where I became an advocate for the voiceless. Scriptures calls for us to vindicate the poor (Psalm 82:3) and demonstrate God's love to the world (Matthew 25:31-46). It all started with a couple of dollars and now my husband and I give hundreds! I desire to give thousands and even millions! Understand that God is going to bless you in the process. Think about it… How can you give BIG if you're broke? What is your lifestyle going to look like when you're well-off? I don't know about you but as for me, I want to live like a child of God in this life. I grew up in the hood and I came out of it. I've been in lack and now I have abundance. I refuse to continue to live a basic and pitiful life when God has provided the way out of 'Egypt' for His people into the 'Promised Land'!

The Bible says: "He who gives to the poor will never want, But he who shuts his eyes will have many curses" Proverbs 28:27.

**Jesus Christ broke ALL of the curses when He shed His innocent blood for us! As said before, tithing won't affect your salvation nor will it lo no longer bring upon curses. We must read each verse within it's context. Proverbs are Old Testament scriptures (before Christ). The blessings are still in affect but the curses are broken. Thanks be to God!**

The Word says that we reign as kings and queens on this earth and that our Father owns all of the cattle on a 1,000 hills! No, you don't have to receive all that God has for you. But those who speak life and claim their blessings will get them. If you don't act on the Word then you won't get it. It's not a magic trick and God doesn't show favoritism. Whoever asks will receive. God's people suffer from lack of knowledge (Hosea 4:6). If you don't know or believe what the Bible says then you won't be able to receive it by faith. God isn't mad at those who refuse to tithe or lack knowledge about it. Tithing won't affect your salvation. This is not a heaven or hell issue. Although, tithing will affect your finances and opportunities. It will open up the door for you to have more responsibility for God's Kingdom. If you don't tithe then you can't expect greater opportunities because you aren't faithful with smaller things. God wants you to take advantage of the full gospel of Christ. The more blessings you have, the better your life is and the more you have, the more you're able to give. Plain and simple, God will keeping giving you more if you're faithful with whatever you have because tithing is an act of faith that honors Him.

Be set free from the spirit of Mammon! It's satan who doesn't want you to give because he knows that your giving gives to God's Kingdom and not his.

I'm a member of World Changers Church International where Creflo Dollar teaches. This man is wealthy! He has churches on every continent. But what some fail to realize is that he teaches the WORD OF GOD, THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST, THE NEW COVENANT OF GRACE THAT SETS MAN FREE!!! He tithes BIG and does so even before he pays his bills. I planted my seed and my butt right in that church because there's good soil there. But it wasn't easy. When I first heard of him I said, 'NO WAY!' This man is a wolf in sheep's clothing, a false prophet, a man of greed. But, I was basing my foolish opinions from religious traditions and didn't even know what the Word said.

Prosperity is a biblical teaching that God wants His people to grab a hold of it! NO MORE LACK! You can't help anyone if you can barely help yourself. There's more to life than just helping yourself. Jesus serves us! He commanded us to the 'Great Commission' (Matthew 28:19-20;Matthew 10:8). And you know what? It costs money to travel and feed and provide for hungry people. Yes, prayer works! You can pray and ask God to help but He's going to tell you that He's already sent His Son Jesus as all the help we need. His victory over the cross has given us authority as believers to reign and rule in this life as soul winners and givers of love. Jesus taught us how to pray according to our Father's Will. LIVE OUT YOUR FAITH BECAUSE OTHERWISE IT'S DEAD! (James 2:14-26)

...And what's dead can never grow. Faithfully sow your seeds and watch God's favor take over your life! He did it in the OT, He does it today. He did it for them and He's done it for me. He will do the same for you because we serve a faithful, living, and awesome God! Sow where the Word of God is being taught correctly and where the people are flourishing. Partner with God and give because He first gave to us the best sacrifice of all; Jesus!

Support great christian authors and businesses. Don't always expect free handouts because that's not support. There's people who have chosen to rise up for God's Kingdom and have devoted their lives to reaching you and others. We need your help! The body of Christ functions better when we work together. Tithing shows that you care for 'The Church' whom Christ sacrificed His life for. I hope that this blog post has helped.

By the way, I sowed another seed yesterday after hearing amazing sermon by my Pastor and that same night my book 'Bible Journey' made Amazon's Best Seller's list in the Christian Faith category on Amazon Kindle! I also, received an opportunity where I will get support from a women's book club. Look at God. ALL OF THE GLORY BELONGS TO HIM!
